#CEYH2016 Awards: Proud to be different!

Share This:

As I write this post we are now just under five days to go until we close for this year’s Constructing Excellence in Yorkshire and Humber awards and we are very excited to see what you have all been up to in the last 12 months. We are really heartened by the response of local companies so far and can’t wait to get stuck into the judging process and organising the rest of the evening. There is still time to get your entries in – follow the links below or visit our dedicated awards page here

Not just your average awards ceremony

Here at the CKE, we take the responsibility of providing the best possible platform to showcase your projects, organisations and individuals extremely seriously, which is why you will never see us run the same event twice! Just like our entrants we aim for our awards ceremony to represent the common themes of our awards in being innovative, collaborative and dynamic.

For instance, at last year’s awards we were the only region to run a selfie competition, which was so successful that it was adopted at the nationals. Not just an excuse to take silly pictures (although that is always welcome), the selfie competition helped to raise the profile of the awards across social media giving extra coverage to the companies involved. We will be running it again this year so don’t forget to bring those phones and snap away!

If you are still undecided, here are just three more reasons why our awards are different and how your business will benefit from being involved,

  • Our dynamic team are all from construction/engineering backgrounds. With over twenty years combined industry experience, we know how to sell what the industry does best
  • Our awards are an experience as well as a ceremony. Every year the team try to do something different on the night itself to ensure the event is memorable for all the right reasons and is a real reward for the individuals and teams who take part. With this year’s Swinging from the Rooftops theme, this year is no exception! We have a number of surprises planned for you on the night – we can’t wait for you to see them!
  • Our added value with our relationships to the National Constructing Excellence network, Yorkshire and Humber Constructing Excellence Club, Leeds Beckett University, Leeds Sustainability Institute and our thinkBIM, Green Vision networks. Going forward there will be plenty of opportunities for our entrants to showcase their work at our breakfast and twilight seminars, our half day conferences and through site visits.

Shortlist announced for Constructing Excellence Yorkshire & Humber Awards 2015

A Stately home, an Eco Home development & a chapel garden, just a sample of some of the fantastic projects that have been shortlisted for this year’s Constructing Excellence in Yorkshire & Humber awards (#CEYHAWARDS).

Organised by the Centre for Knowledge Exchange at Leeds Beckett University, these awards are open to organisations, companies and project teams involved in delivering “excellence in construction” across 13 different categories, each one representing the core themes underpinning the Constructing Excellence movement & improvement agenda. Sponsored by Atlas Cloud, categories include integration & collaborative working, client of the year and new for 2015, BIM Project of the year.

Leading the way with nominations are A-one+ Integrated Services with five nominations closely followed by Carillion Morgan Sindall and Henry Boot Construction. We are thrilled to see more entries from smaller organisations this year and particular commendation must go to WGL Stoneclean, a Leeds based SME, who have been nominated in 3 separate categories. The full shortlist can be viewed on the #ceyhawards web page at the following link.

The winners will be revealed at a gala presentation dinner on 17th July at the National Railway Museum in York. Over the last seven years the CEYHAWARDS have grown to be one of the highlights of the regional construction calendar & this year promises to be bigger than ever. We have already enjoyed a record number of submissions and look forward to welcoming around 350 construction professionals, representing a broad cross section of the construction industry, on the night itself to celebrate the very best that our sector has to offer. Atlas Cloud CEO Pete Watson says

“We are delighted to support the Constructing Excellence Yorkshire and Humber Awards 2015, it’s a true celebration of the construction industry. Industry professionals are raising the bar on projects for clients and pioneering new ways of working such as BIM, with Yorkshire being one of the leading areas in the country. We are proud to be working with such leading, growing businesses operating more efficiently and productively through collaboration, communication and mobility”

Tables & individual places at the event can be booked at the following link and include a drinks reception, a three course gourmet dinner, the awards presentation and lots of entertainment thrown in too! The event is black tie but we are encouraging all our guests to wear an item of colour in their outfits, whether a bright scarf or colourful bow tie, to break up the black!

Our charity partner for this year will be Disability Action Yorkshire, a fantastic charity that provides services to improve the lives of disabled people.  These include residential care which trains younger adults in the skills required to live independently, care and support within people’s own homes, fully accessible holiday accommodation and training in the skills required for employment linked to a thriving social enterprise. We are pleased to announce that we are now taking submissions for the Constructing Excellence in Yorkshire & Humber Awards 2015. Last year’s awards were bigger & better than ever with a record number of submissions and over 350 professionals, representing a broad cross section of the construction industry, coming together at our gala dinner at Sheffield City Hall to celebrate the best that the regional built environment sector has to offer. Two of our regional winners were also victorious at the Constructing Excellence national awards in London last November, showing that construction innovation in the region is right up there with the best the UK has to offer (read more about last year’s winners here).

There are 13 different categories each representing the core themes underpinning the Constructing Excellence agenda including a new category for 2015, BIM Project of the year. Fully inclusive, entries are welcome from any companies, organisations or project teams involved in delivering built environment projects across the region. Our awards are completely free to enter and you are welcome (& indeed encouraged!) to submit as many entries as you like.

Entering the awards can bring numerous benefits to your business including raising your profile, introducing you to a wider client base and give you new market opportunities. It also gives you a great opportunity to reward the hard work of your employees over the last 12 months.

The close date for entries is Friday 15th May 2015 with the winners being announced at our gala dinner, this year to be held in York on Friday 17th July 2015 at the National Railway Museum.
