Organised by the School of Built Environment, Engineering and Computing at Leeds Beckett University, the Constructing Excellence Yorkshire and Humber Awards (#CEYH2022) focus attention on some of the most important issues in the construction sector. They recognise the very best companies, collaborations and projects, inspiring others to adopt new and better ways of working that deliver outstanding results.

All types of organisations enter our awards each year; private and public sector, micro, SME and large contractors, designers, consultants, clients and suppliers, anyone and everyone that is part of construction’s extended family*. From all those entrants our judges select the very best projects, schemes and teams with the winners being revealed at our prestigious awards ceremony in July.

Regional winners then go on to represent Yorkshire and Humber at the national Constructing Excellence Awards in Autumn. Our region has enjoyed a huge amount of success at the national awards in recent years and we are keen to see that trend extended into 2022.

*Please note, we are now closed for entries for 2022. Details of 2023 will be released later in the year.

GALA AWARDS CEREMONY

Our gala awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 14th July 2022 at the Queens Hotel in Leeds.

Our guests can expect our usual blend of unique theming, professional hosting, dynamic presentation, excellent food and drink as well as a few surprises for 2022.

2022 THEME

We are delighted to announce that the theme for this year’s Constructing Excellence Yorkshire and Humber Awards is…

For this year’s theme, we will be celebrating the colours, style and decadence of the Art Deco period. This is in keeping with the Queen’s Hotel’s recent multi-million pound renovation to reflect it’s history as part of the golden age of the railways and subsequent rise of the north as a prominent economic centre in the 1920’s and 1930’s.

As always the dress code is black tie but we encourage our guests to embrace the theme (think Gatsby style; flapper dresses, beads, sequins, tuxedos, stripes, hats and fascinators).

Many thanks to Tilbury Douglas Construction for being our 2022 Drinks reception and brochure sponsor.

2022 HOST

PAUL SINHA

‘One of those comedians who makes you realise the power of stand-up comedy and the respect it deserves as an art form.’ Yorkshire Post

Comedian Paul Sinha was born in the UK to Bengali parents and the family medical dynasty. Whilst studying medicine in the 1990s, Paul took his first steps on the stand-up comedy circuit. He pursued both careers and at the 2006 Edinburgh Festival Fringe earned a nomination for the highest accolade in live comedy, the Edinburgh Comedy Award. Shortly after his nomination, Paul hung up his stethoscope to become a full-time comedian.

Paul is a familiar voice on radio with appearances on Radio 4’s Just A Minute and The News Quiz and on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Fighting Talk. His own Radio 4 series ‘Paul Sinha’s History Revision’ won the Rose d’Or for radio comedy in 2016. He’s also appeared on television on BBC’s QI and Would I Lie to You? and as a competitor on Dave’s Taskmaster.

A lifetime of curiosity and learning informs Paul’s comedy but now also ranks him as one of the UK’s finest quizzers. This has led to yet another concurrent career, this time as a general knowledge expert on the award-winning ITV quiz show, The Chase.

BENEFITS TO YOUR BUSINESS

Our awards have always been about more than a good evening out, they are about showcasing what our industry does well, driving up standards and ultimately leading positive change in our industry. Off the back of a number of turbulent years, when the sector has needed to adapt to survive and thrive, it is more important than ever that businesses keep standards high and celebrate and share their achievements. Attending our awards is a great networking opportunity as well as exposing you to companies whose values align with your own.

CHARITY

Constructing Excellence Yorkshire and Humber supporting the Trussell Trust.

In the UK, more than 14 million people are living in poverty – including 4.5 million children. The trusts supports more than 1,200 food bank centres in the UK to provide a minimum of three days’ nutritionally-balanced emergency food to people who have been referred in crisis, as well as support to help people resolve the crises they face.

The Trussell Trust supports a nationwide network of food banks and together we provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK. Our goal to end the need for food banks.

We are encouraging our audience to not only give generously during the evening but also to consider how they could support their local food bank. Food banks are grassroots, community organisations aimed at supporting people who cannot afford the essentials in life.
