Last Thursday we were finally able to welcome over 370 industry partners, sponsors and supporters to the 2021 Constructing Excellence Yorkshire and Humber Awards, held at New Dock Hall in Leeds. This year’s awards had a mardi gras theme and it was great to see so many people enjoying the carnival atmosphere, vibrant colours and the excellent entertainment provided by our band for the evening, The Sandhouse Stompers.

As always the standard of entries was incredibly high and there were no easy decisions for our judges. It was heartening to see that the challenges of the last eighteen months have not stopped our industry from producing great results and innovating to thrive. It really was another stand out year and we want to congratulate all those companies who made it to the finals. Our winners will now go on to compete at the National Constructing Excellence 2021 awards which will be held in January 2022.

Thanks to your generosity our event also raised over £2300 for this year’s chosen charity, The Lighthouse Club Yorkshire and Humber . This is a charity very close to all our hearts and who have provided much needed support to many in our industry throughout the pandemic. Our thanks to Kirstie Murray from Galliford Try who came and collected the cheque on the charities behalf as well as providing an extremely important & moving presentation on how your donations help them to support our industry.

We would like to thank all our suppliers who work tirelessly to bring our ideas to life; Cherry Venue Dressers, Big Purple Productions, Photogenick, Vibe Music and the team at the Royal Armouries who looked after us so  beautifully on the evening.

Thank you once again to our sponsors, without whose support we simply would not be able to put on an event of this quality and magnitude. Our aim is always to show off what our industry does well, promote positive transformation and set the bar for raising standards; goals we know that our partners share. Thanks in particular to our headline sponsor, Esh Construction, and to Stuart Leslie for his excellent speech on the night where he invited us all to give ourselves a round of applause for keeping going – amen to that!

Finally a massive thank you to you, the industry, for constantly pushing boundaries and delivering transformative work. You ARE our awards!

See you next year!

Tom, Donna and Liz
