#BIM for Green

On 1st April the Centre for Knowledge Exchange (CKE) once again brought together it's thinkBIM & greenvision networks in a half day #greenBIM conference which blended presentations, discussion & debate on how effective use of data can lead to greener outcomes for buildings and their occupants.

  1. The event was opened by thinkBIM chair Duncan Reed @djhreed67, who welcomed the audience & introduced our compere for proceedings, Su Butcher @subutcher. For those who don't know about Su (& there can't be many left), she is the Director of Just Practising, a consultancy which offers strategic marketing and business development advice to construction companies. For more details, check out her website at the link below & sign up to her newsletter which is full of useful tips to help you get more from your digital marketing strategy.
  2. The first presentation of the day, and arguably the most important, was our industry keynote on behavioural change & it's significance to BIM Adoption, delivered by Dr Anne Kemp @ACKEMPO . Anne is a Director & Fellow at Atkins Global recognised for her expertise in BIM Strategy and Implementation. She is also Vice-Chair of BuildingSmart UK, Chair of ICE’s BIM Action Group & BIM4Infrastructure UK. She is currently providing strategic advice on BIM to HS2 and the Thames Water Alliance, Eight2o & has been part of the UK Government BIM Task Group helping the Highways Agency and Environment Agency to implement BIM. She also recently graduated as a prizewinner from Henley Business School with an MSc in Coaching and Behavioural Change. We were thrilled that Atkins could spare her for a day as her observations on industry silos & barriers to collaboration immediately resonated with us all...
  3. Anne then went on to talk about leadership, team dynamics & the importance of in-role learning & development. We will be writing a more in depth post on Anne's talk over on our thinkBIM blog in the next few days, so do look out for that. In the meantime, here are a selection of the main points & observations from the twitter stream...
