Building Bridges with BIM - Wednesday 7th October 2015
For the first event of our Autumn series, we were joined by five members of the AECOM Mott MacDonald JV team who are working on the technically challenging Ordsall Chord railway improvement scheme.
- This project is being delivered through a multi-disciplinary alliance to address the complexities of the new Ordsall Chord support structures, the widening of existing brick arch viaducts, design of both precast and insitu concrete elements, detailing of steel structures using fabrication software and innovative ways of providing deliverables to the client.
- Our chair for this evening's event is Jill Willoughby, Sales and Marketing Coordinator at Tekla (UK) and thinkBIM steering group member.
- Jill WilloughbyJill has over 27 years experience in the construction industry and joined Tekla UK at the beginning of 2011. With 3 years as a researcher for construction with the Department of Trade and Industry, 8 years in stainless steel masonry support and tension bar system specification and supply and 16 years with in the construction software vendor sector, she has a broad based knowledge of the industry.

- The Network Rail Aim - to have all their major assets to be delivered on a common platform with a view towards creating the the Digital Railway Asset Management. As such their requirement is for all data (inc models and drawings) to be fully editable with links back to the datasources (e.g. where 2D drawings are created from 3D models, they also require the 2D extraction models to be saved such that drawings can be refreshed if they ever update the 3D model).
