#TBIM2015 - BIM 4 Manufacturing

On Wednesday 4th March 2015 we welcomed over 50 construction professionals to Old Broadcasting House in Leeds for the second in our thinkBIM spring Construction & Assembly series, a twilight seminar exploring BIM 4 Manufacturing and Manufacturers.

  1. The event started with a brief introduction by new thinkBIM Chair, Duncan Reed (djhreed67) before handing over to our seminar chair for the evening, Rob Jackson (BondbryanBIM)
  2. The presentations started with Chris J Witte, (chrisjwitte) Chris is currently Marketing Director (Northern Europe) for Knauf Insulation, a major division of the +€5bn turnover Knauf Group. Chris is also a Steering Group Member of BIM4M2 (more about the group at the link below)
  3. The BIM4M2 group is still relatively new, having only been set up 9 months ago. The group was mainly bourne out of a request by Construction Products Association for product manufacturers to have some representation into the government task groups. However, now formed, BIM4M2 is its own entity separate to the CPA.
  4. Chris also gave a brief overview of how BIM4M2 fits in with the existing BIM Working Groups...
  5. As with all BIM task groups, it was important for them to conduct a survey to understand where their members were on their BIM journey. None of the existing surveys were really representative of the organisations they were trying to gather data about so BIM4M2 created their own.
