Best of the Best Award Winner

We are pleased to announce that this year’s Constructing Excellence Awards will be taking place on Friday 18th July 2014 at Sheffield City Hall. Recognising & rewarding the best of construction innovation & best practice in the region, these awards have grown to become one of the highlights of business calendar with over 250 construction professionals regularly attending to celebrate the best that the regional built environment sector has to offer.

Being held in South Yorkshire for the first time, our gala dinner promises to be bigger and better than ever! Our event will be hosted by Capital 1 breakfast DJ Jojo Kelly and will also feature a key note presentation by government Chief Construction Advisor, Peter Hansford. In addition the event will feature a networking drinks reception, a three course gourmet meal, the awards ceremony and after dinner entertainment with a few suprises thrown in too!

Your host for the evening – Capital FM DJ JoJo Kelly

Jojo 83 large

JoJo was born and bred in Leeds and is a well known character and face about town on Yorkshire’s number one hit music station. Since the launch of 105 Capital FM Yorkshire back in January 2011, JoJo continues to be an integral part of ‘Hirsty’s Daily Dose’ breakfast show, and is on every week day morning when you wake up.

‘The JoJo’ as she is also affectionately known as is famed for having a distinctive laugh, some say nuclear, and for keeping the show well supplied with tea, coffee and amusing anecdotes.

JoJo originally trained as an actress at LAMDA – The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, and likes to act and sing from time to time, but is more focused on her well established role as a broadcaster across Yorkshire, a role she has fulfilled for over 17 years now!

Action for Happiness logo

Action for Happiness helps people look after their mental wellbeing and campaigns for mental wellbeing to be given much greater priority. Research shows that mental ill-health causes more of the suffering in our society than physical illness, poverty or unemployment – but it gets far less attention. Antidepressant use has grown by 500% in 20 years and over a third of people in the UK experience mental health issues during their lifetime. Yet only 30% of people suffering receive any help, due to poor service provision, lack of understanding and stigma. As a result, most people remain unaware of the many practical things we can all do to look after our wellbeing. Action for Happiness provides evidence-based ideas and solutions to improve mental wellbeing in families, communities, schools and workplaces. It also works to ensure a greater focus on promoting wellbeing in government policy. It has a network of over 200,000 members and followers and is backed by leading experts from psychology, health, education and social innovation. Action for Happiness is part of The Young Foundation, a Registered Charity (274345) and Company Limited by Guarantee (1319183) in England and Wales

Mark Williamson 2Dr Mark Williamson is Director of Action for Happiness (www.actionforhappiness.org), a movement of people taking action to create a happier society. Mark has a diverse range of experience across private and non-profit sectors, from start-ups through to large multi-national companies. He was previously Director of the Innovation unit at the Carbon Trust. He was also a non-executive director of Solar Press and founder of online initiative What You Can Do. Before that, Mark spent nine years as a management consultant with Accenture, leading a wide range of projects relating to strategy, technology and change management.
